A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Armin Cooper was celebrated Dec. 23 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister Armin, 89, died Dec. 20 at Mother Margaret Hall. She was a Sister of Charity for 71 years.

A native of Memphis, Sister Armin earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the Athenaeum of Ohio; a bachelor’s in English from the College of Mount St. Joseph; and a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Notre Dame.

Sister Armin began her long teaching ministry at St. William School in Cincinnati in 1943 and continued at Seton High School. In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, she also taught at the former Marian High School, along with schools in Colorado, New Mexico and Michigan.

In 1974 Sister Armin returned to her hometown to serve as chairperson of the science department and teach chemistry and physics at Bishop Byrne High School. She continued to teach high school in Memphis until her retirement in 1990. She also taught English as a second language in a diocesan program for refugees from Cambodia, Vietnam and Sudan. Sister Armin returned to the motherhouse to serve in the ministry of prayer in 1995.

Sister Armin is survived by her sister, Sister of Charity Imelda Cooper. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
