We are excited to announce that the Office of the New Evangelization has hired Luke Carey as an Assistant Director. This is the first new position for the Office of the New Evangelization since it was created by Archbishop Schnurr in July 2013.

This new position in the Office of the New Evangelization will focus on specific youth discipleship initiatives including the coordination of Encounter Ministries, the Abide: Forming Missionary Disciples Youth Conference, and on-going missionary discipleship training programs for young people. The Assistant Director will be a resource for youth ministers for training in the New Evangelization. The Assistant Director will coordinate local efforts with NET Ministries, the Parrhesia New Evangelization events, and other organizations committed to the New Evangelization.Luke Carey’s three passions are Christ and his Church, his fiancé Erin Cavanaugh and helping teenagers grow in love and understanding of Jesus. Luke grew up in Dayton, OH and was a proud parishioner of Corpus Christi parish. After graduating college form Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2006, he spent time working in California, Idaho and Colorado in the fields of youth ministry and Catholic education. His work with Catholic schools included developing and leading campus ministry events and retreats while also teaching high school theology classes. The pinnacle of his education career involved leading a K-12 school that excelled at forming young Catholic leaders. As a youth minister and volunteer, he developed retreats and programs that built intentional discipleship amongst teenagers. Early in his career, Luke contributed to LifeTeen.com and interned with Porch Rocking Entertainment, a company that worked with some of the country’s best Catholic entertainers. In his spare time he is looking forward to co-hosting, alongside nationally renowned Catholic speaker Michael Gormley, the ‘Catching Foxes’ podcast, a new show that provides an honest discussion on the challenges faced by millennial Catholics.
