Deacon John Taylor

A Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon John Taylor was celebrated Nov. 4 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lebanon. Father Bernard Weldishofer presided. Deacon Taylor, 76, died Oct. 31.
A native of Orange, N.J., he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Korea. Deacon Taylor was ordained to the diaconate on in 1987, at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk. He served at St. Francis de Sales Parish, where he helped train eucharistic ministers, assisted with the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and was an active member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, until his retirement in 2006. Deacon Taylor retired from Armco Research Division in 1992, after 32 years as an engineer.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Antoinette, Deacon Taylor’s survivors include his wife, Joan, two sons, Matthew and Bruce, three daughters, Ann Schlosser, Mary Billman and Catherine Beckner; and a brother, Herbert.
Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery.
