Sister Laetitia Meyer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Laetitia Meyer was celebrated July 7 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Laetitia died on July 5 at St. Clare Hall, the congregation’s health care facility. She was 97 years old.
A native of California, Ohio, Sister Laetitia entered the Oldenburg Franciscan community in 1936 and professed her final vows in 1944.
She was a teacher and principal in both elementary and secondary education. She served at St. Catharine of Siena in Westwood and St. Bernard in Winton Place. In addition, she spent 22 years as the director of the art department at the former Our Lady of Angels High School. From 1983 to 2004 Sister Laetitia resided at the Oldenburg motherhouse, where she was engaged in ministry there, especially as a resident artist.
Interment was in the motherhouse cemetery.
