Sister Ruth Vanderhoff

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity Ruth Vanderhoff was celebrated on June 25 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati’s motherhouse. Sister Ruth, 84, died June 22 at Mother Margaret Hall. She was a Sister of Charity for 64 years.
A native of Marion, Ohio, Sister Ruth entered religious life in 1944. She earned a bachelor of science in education from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1957. She served in several dioceses, most notably in the field of primary and secondary education. Sister Ruth ministered in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati at the former St. Matthew in Norwood.
In 1978 Sister Ruth moved into hospital office work in Colorado. She retired to the ministry of prayer at the Sisters of Charity motherhouse in 1990.
Her sister, Mary Smith, and brother John Vanderhoff, survive. Interment was in the motherhouse cemetery.
