A Mass of Christian Burial for Missionary of the Precious Blood Brother Hugh Henderson was celebrated Jan. 12 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains. Brother Hugh, 66, died Jan. 5. 

A native of Cleveland, Brother Hugh entered the community in 1967, and was professed on March 25, 1972. He served in education and parish ministry throughout his years a religious brother. Brother Hugh served at the former St. Mark Church in Evanston from 1990-2010 and then at the Church of the Resurrection in Bond Hill. In November 2013, he was honored for his ministry to African-American Catholics by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The Church of the Resurrection had planned to honor him with a Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. “Keep the Dream Alive” award on Jan. 19.

A second funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 14 at St. Adalbert Church in Cleveland. A third and final Mass took place Jan. 15 at St. Charles Center in Carthagena, the motherhouse and retirement center of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Interment was in the community cemetery.
