CATHEDRAL DEANERY — As part of an ongoing effort to become more familiar with the many outreach ministries in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the people who help them carry out their good works, Coadjutor Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr visited the Clifton office of Healthy Beginnings Sept. 9.

A not-for-profit obstetrical healthcare provider, Healthy Beginnings has seven locations in the Greater Cincinnati area that serve women without private medical insurance who are in need of quality prenatal care and compassionate support. Because of its pro-life mission, Healthy Beginnings is a grant recipient of the Pro-Life Fund, administered by the archdiocesan Family Life Office. The funding supports Healthy Beginning’s ultrasound ministry, which, according to Donna Phelps, executive director, “saved 160 babies that we know of from abortion” last year.

During his visit, Archbishop Schnurr, who was accompanied by Mary Anne Boyd, archdiocesan Respect Life coordinator, received a tour of Healthy Begin­nings’ newly remodeled facilities, visited with staff members and viewed the ultrasound machine.

“We were just so honored that the archbishop took time out of his busy schedule to come and visit us,” Phelps said.
