The staff of Bayley, a continuing care retirement community founded and operated by the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, thinks of the facility as something more than just a well-equipped and well-appointed senior citizen home.

“The Holy Spirit is really working here,” said Susan Haumesser, Pastoral Department Coordinator, who leads the facility’s Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry.

In addition to the pastoral support that has grown with the facility’s nursing care, Bayley Village independent living and assisted living homes and apartments, rehabilitation care and services for non-residents have also grown.

The Bayley Fitness Club attracts adults looking for a personal fitness program that fits their needs and includes an indoor walking track and an aquatics center.

Its adult day care and memory support care enables resident who can live with family but need supervision during the workday. As part of this program, Bayley hosted the 2014 LeadingAge Ohio Art and Writing Show for the South Region on June 30, and its Adult Day Program members came away with big wins, according to Kathy Baker, Marketing Director.

More than 200 works of art and writing were submitted to be judged, and 70 pieces came out winners.  Three of those pieces belonged to members of Bayley’s Adult Day Program.

Baker said this is the first time any works of art submitted to the LeadingAge Ohio Art and Writing Show by Adult Day members were chosen as winners.  Members and group facilitator Mary Jo Custer were all very pleased with the outcome, and can’t wait to display their award-winning artwork at the Statewide Show in August.

The LeadingAge Ohio was founded to ensure the success of not-for-profit providers, such as Bayley, who serve frail and older adults, and to empower organizations to optimize choices for successful aging.

The Statewide Show will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Columbus on August 27 and 28.

Located on Delhi Road overlooking the Ohio River, the campus is adjacent to the mother house of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati and the Mount St. Joseph University.
