Sister Agnes Schaumleffel
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity Agnes Schaumleffel was celebrated March 14 in the congregation’s motherhouse chapel. Sister Agnes, 91, died March 10 at Mother Margaret Hall. She was a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati for 69 years.
A native of Cincinnati, Sister Agnes was initially missioned to serve in the Sisters’ Treasurer’s Office, assisting with both secretarial and accounting duties for 23 years. She later served at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati as the business manager for four offices. In addition, Sister Agnes ministered as executive treasurer for the congregation from 1971-75. She served on various boards for her congregation and numerous non-profit agencies in the local community. She was also a regional leader in the newly formed Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility and was instrumental in the building of the Senior Chateau, a housing project for the elderly in East Price Hill. She went on to serve as the administrator at Mother Margaret Hall, the congregation’s healthcare facility, and as administrator of the Sisters’ health insurance prior to her retirement in 2003.
Known for her musical talent, Sister Agnes also served as the weekend organist as a number of area parishes. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
