A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Helen Theresa Fleischman was held March 20 at Salem Heights in Dayton. Sister Helen Theresa, 84, died March 17 in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 66 years.

A native of St. Joseph, Mo., she entered the congregation at the age of 16. For 62 years, Sister Helen Theresa ministered as a cook and housekeeper in Cincinnati, Toledo and in Marquette, Mich. She worked for then-Cincinnati Archbishop Karl J. Alter for more than 25 years and later worked for then-Cincinnati Archbishop Joseph L. Bernardin. In 1992, she moved to Marquette to cook for former Cincinnati Auxiliary Bishop James H. Garland when he was named bishop of that see.

In 2009, Sister Helen Theresa retired at Salem Heights and moved in 2012 to the Maria Joseph Center. Internment took place in the Salem Heights Cemetery.
