Archbishop Schnurr appointed USCCB Treasurer

WASHINGTON—Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has appointed Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr of Cincinnati as USCCB treasurer. Archbishop Schnurr will assume the position recently left by Bishop Kevin J. Farrell of Dallas, who has been appointed by Pope Francis as the first prefect of the Vatican’s new Laity, Family and Life Dicastery.

Archbishop Schnurr was elected USCCB treasurer last November during the U.S. Bishops’ General Assembly in Baltimore. With this appointment, he will assume his duties immediately and will continue into his regular term scheduled to begin in November 2016.
The treasurer position at USCCB is an officer level position which includes membership on the Executive Committee and the Administrative Committee, in addition to being chair of the Committee on Budget and Finance and vice-chair of the Committee on Priorities and Plans.
